I’m very pleased to say that I’m a wedding photographer at Heron House registry office and Chorlton Cum Hardy Golf Club. Which is pretty handy, because this wedding took place at both venues, and on different days! Rachel and Tony told me they were having a small intimate wedding ceremony at Manchester Registry Office, and then a few days later, they would be holding their wedding reception at the Golf club, which can be a wedding venue in its own right. For them it was all about family and good times, which is just perfect for me.
I met Rachel and Tony, along with their sons and daughters, early one afternoon at the registry office in Manchester City Centre. They were all dressed smartly but feeling very relaxed. A modern, relaxed ceremony, the bride and groom were quite happy to spend time together before the proceedings began. Nonetheless, when it came time for Rachel to walk down the aisle, she did so on her own, choosing to meet Tony at the end of the aisle.
It was clear as soon as they shared glances, the affection that the couple had for each other. As they read their vows and exchanged rings, Tony couldn’t resist dropping in a few cheeky jokes which resulted in some great reactions from Rachel, which I was very happy to capture through natural wedding photography.
The short but emotional ceremony finished, we went outside for a few photos outside Manchester Town Hall. The town square is a great location in its own right, but luckily for me someone had placed oriental lanterns on the surrounding trees, which gave a lovely backdrop to Rachel and Tony’s relaxed and mostly unposed wedding photos. We also took a few by the entrance to Manchester Library. This is a classic location for couple photos, used by many photographers, but I hope I’ve added my own take on things, making our newlyweds’ photos unique to them. We headed to The Ivy for a few drinks and celebratory meal. I was honoured to be invited by the couple to join them for a drink before I left them to enjoy the rest of their day.
A week or so later, I met the now married couple at their reception venue, Chorlton Golf Club. It was great to see them there still in the same great mood they were the week previous. This was really relaxed family focused event, and as far as photography was concerned, it was all about capturing the real and emotional moments without getting in the way or hassling the bride and groom. There were loads of children attending and they made for some really fun photos especially on the dance floor where they played with balloons and pulled off some crazy moves!
The group photo sessions made everyone laugh. Several drinks in, the guests struggled to find their spot, but that was fine by me, it made for some really funny photos (and of course, the bride and groom still received all the group photos they’d requested). Towards the end of the evening, the reception party enjoyed some emotional speeches from Tony’s son and one of their close friends. Everyone was soon back to the bar though, and party returned to full swing. Drinking games ensured and even Rachel partook in downing some shots: two in quick succession! That was impressive!
Epic congratulations to Rachel and Tony! Thanks once again for choosing me as your wedding photographer at Heron House and Chorlton Cum Hardy Golf Club.
