I was very happy indeed when Matt and Kayleigh asked me to be their Leeds Crowne Plaza wedding photographer, a hotel and wedding venue right next to the city centre. I first met our bride and groom to be at a wedding fayre here, held by my pals Wedding Fayre’s Yorkshire.
Somewhat of a geek myself, I got excited when Matt and Kayleigh told me they were having a Star Wars themed wedding. And indeed, when I arrived at Leeds Crowne Plaza, the reception room had already been adorned with Star Wars paraphernalia, such as a giant C3PO and R2-D2, and tables named after areas in the Star Wars Universe. When I arrived at the bridal suite for bride prep, I quickly noticed two lightsabers propped against the wall! It was very generous of Kayleigh to let me have a go!
Bridal prep was a fun old time with lots of laughter all round, along with the occasional spillage of an alcoholic beverage! I went through to see Matt, for a few groom prep photos and found him chilling with his son and best man. The theme continued in here too with Star Wars themed cufflinks.
All the wedding guests began to arrive and there was hugging all round, as well as some fun as Matt needed some help to attach his flower to his suit. Everyone moved through to the ceremony room and just as the marriage ceremony was due to begin, Kayleigh’s chief bridesmaid came running down the aisle with a box for Matt. It turned out that the bride had had the rings the whole time and Matt hadn’t noticed!
Kayleigh came down the aisle to – naturally – Princess Leia’s theme, her little son in toe. The ceremony was full of laughter and warm moments, and everyone clapped and cheered when our newlyweds shared their first kiss as husband and wife. The ceremony over, Matt Kayleigh and myself went for a short, relaxed walk around Leeds to have a few couple photos., before returning to Matt’s room for a few wedding dress re-arrangements.
Our newlywed couple entered the reception room to rapturous applause from all their wedding guests. The speeches were full of emotion and funny tales, as I’m sure you can imagine….and then everyone hit the dance floor as if they didn’t have a care in the world. Matt Kayleigh did have a first dance although it was quite late in the evening so most of the dancing action happened BEFORE their dance, not after. One bridesmaid, the chief bridesmaid, was a former rock kid by all accounts and she danced hard that she passed by the end of the night. This was my last photo of the evening, and a very funny photo it was too!
Massive congratulations to Matt and Kayliegh. Here’s to a great future to you both! You made me the luckiest guy in the world by making me your Leeds Crown Plaza wedding photographer!
