I was very happy indeed when Ben and Sharna asked me to be their Sale Wedding Photographer. Sale is a town just south-west of Manchester, and forms part of Greater Manchester. Sharna and Ben conduct their wedding ceremony at Sale Town Hall, followed by a relaxed and intimate reception at The Boathouse at Sale Water Park. Sale Town Hall has two ceremony rooms: the Marriage Room can accommodate up to 50 guests, while the Mayor’s Parlour can cater for up to 16. The attractive building is part of the Sale Waterside development and is located near Bridgewater Canal in the centre of Sale.
I first met Ben who was waiting outside Sale Town Hall with his friends, waiting for the ceremony to begin. Ben and Sharna opted to skip bride and groom preparation photos. It was just wasn’t their thing, and that of course if absolutely fine with me. It’s your wedding day to make as you please!
Ben and his groomsmen went inside and shortly after the bride arrived in their family, driven by her dad. Sharna waited in their car while her family and friends attached flowers to their lapels. I was lucky enough to capture her having a quiet smile while a passerby looked into the car, clearly noticing her elegant wedding dress.
Sharna, flower bouquet in hand entered the town hall, meanwhile Ben had his flower arranged on his suit by the father of the groom. More guests arrived and there was plenty of hugging and kissing. Then it was time for the ceremony and the bridesmaids led Sharna let by the father of the bride into the Marriage Room. The ceremony was short but sweet with Sharna giving Ben some of the most loving of glances. It was plain to see that they were a couple very much in love. When it came to the exchanging of rings, it seemed that the ring bearers had picked up the incorrect rings and so had to swap just before passing them to the bride and groom.
The register signed we moved outside for a group photo , a few hugs, and then onto The Boathosue for the wedding reception. Once there Ben, Sharna and I disappeared for a short walk round the lake and a few relaxed and natural couple portraits. For one shot a black bird landed just at the right time for me to be able to make an interesting composition. It was a beautiful sunny day, making the water of the lake a vibrant blue colour. There were many walkers who congratulated our newlyweds as they passed by.
Back at the Boathouse the party took breaks from the informal wedding breakfast to chat on the terrace while enjoying the evening sun. There was a whole load of laughter and hugging and some of the younger guests enjoyed running around and climbing over the walls of the terrace. As the son sun set over the lake, some of the guests enjoyed the relaxing breeze by the water front while having a chilled natter.
Surrounded by their family and friends, the married couple span round romantically on the dance floor and I was impressed by their elegant dance moves. The first dance over, the guests joined them on the floor, throwing some impressive moves of their own. I had fun on the dance floor too, getting in close and capturing the shear joy of the evening naturally and emotively.
Massive congratulations to Ben and Sharna! I felt very luck to be your Sale wedding photographer and I wish you guys all the best for the future!
