I love being a Southport wedding photographer! I was really happy when my friend Lynette Matthews Photography asked me to help her photograph Ben and Mandy’s wedding. I was quite excited as it was my first time shooting in Southport.
While Lynette went to see Mandy for bride preparation photos, I went to join Ben and his many groomsmen for his own prep photos. I found Ben already suited and booted, waiting for his gaggle of mates to arrive. It wasn’t long before they started walking through the door and Ben was popping open the beers. After some communal tie tying we all went into the garden. Another of Ben’s friends arrived, famous for novelty socks, and he didn’t disappoint. Everyone enjoyed a few more beers, had a hell of a lot of laughs and posed for a few friend and family photos.
Everyone decided to walk to the church for the ceremony. Someone had the great idea to bring footy along, which made for some brilliant documentary wedding photographs. We arrived at the church to find many guests had already arrived. Lots of hugging ensued as Ben reunited with his family and friends, many of whom I’m sure he hadn’t seen in years. I was pleased to see they had hired a harpist, who was playing some beautiful melodies.
The arrival of the bridesmaids was the sign that the wedding ceremony was about to begin. Everyone found their places in the church. Mandy looked lovely as she peered through her car window at her bridesmaids who were waiting for her outside the church. The ceremony was really nice, full of emotion and laughter. A little boy left his pew and ran past me down the aisle. The first kiss done more hugging ensued as Ben and Mandy left the church. We had some confetti and then it was time to move onto the hotel.
