Well, here we! It’s great to be a Stables Country Club wedding photographer! As soon as I rocked up at Nicole and Shaun’s house for groom prep, I had a feeling that this was going to be an epic party. Shaun was in already in high spirits, hanging out with his son Charlie, brothers and uncle. Charlie was just a few years old, clearly excited, and wanted to play with his favourite helmet. His uncle kept him occupied with a few magic tricks.
Nicole was also excited, as I found when I arrived at the her hotel room for bridal prep. In the middle of make-up, not long after I showed up, some flowers arrived for Nicole from Shaun. I nice surprise for Nicole I thought.
It was still the morning and already Nicole and her bridesmaids were having a few drinks. This was evident straight away when I went into the bridesmaids room to take a few photos and saw some open cans of booze on the ironing board! It was clearly having an effect….for some reason painting nails was really funny! Nicole, a hairdresser by trade, styled no only her own hair, but also the hair of her bridesmaids too. She put her dress on surprisingly quickly and when her dad saw her for the first time he was clearly a very proud man.
As guests arrived at the church, Shaun was clearly getting a little nervous and was being thoroughly ribbed for it by his brother and pals. Nicole arrived followed shortly by her bridesmaids, a couple of whom were late and had to run up the drive way to the church. The wedding ceremony went smoothly and it was clear just how much Nicole and Shaun love each other. Their son Charlie got a bit fidgety and wandered around the aisle before being accosted by a relation. This was a really funny moment which I’, very happy I captured on camera.
By the time we left the church following the ceremony it had started raining so we did a confetti photo with umbrellas. It gave a unique touch to the photo I thought. During the drive to the wedding venue I suffered somewhat of a sat nav fail and despite setting off earlier found myself queuing in traffic behind Nicole and Shaun’s wedding car. I took a photo – I shouldn’t have really – but it was a good photo op and one I’ll probably not have the opportunity to recreate anytime soon.
Nicole & Shaun’s family we waiting for them when they arrived at Stables Country Club. A bit of milling and the guests sat down to dinner. We shortly moved onto the speeches….but first Shaun enjoyed a bit of rough and tumble from his mates. This was hilarious and I’m glad I was able to capture it. All the speeches were hilarious although I think by this point in the day the best man – Shaun’s brother – was a little lost for words.
Before the evening reception began in earnest one of the bridesmaids decided to do a little karaoke and Nicole and the rest of her bridal crew decided to join in. This was a great moment full of energy and friendship.
Even before the first dance began many of Nicole & Shaun’s guests had hit the dancefloor. I was glad they had asked me to stay until the end of the night as this was clearly going to be a good party! Once the energetic first dance was over all the guests flooded the dance floor and stayed there pretty much for the rest of the night. I’m not sure who provided the various wigs, blow-up instruments and other props but, trust me, you can have a lot of fun with these on the dance floor! Our bride and groom had one last kiss on the dance floor before I left. What a great party these guys had. Many congratulations!
