If you have any questions you’re more than welcome to drop me an email or give me a ring. Alternatively, by all means have a read of my FAQ below. I update this as and when so there is no particular order. why not hit Ctrl+F and enter a keyword?
Do you take photos all day?
Yes, pretty much, but certainly not in an intrusive, annoying kind of way. You won’t feel like the camera is trained on you all the time.
I don’t tend to take photos while people are sitting down to eat. It’s nice to let people enjoy their meals, and I use it as an opportunity to have a little break. I’m always handy though, and keeping an eye on the action. Want a photo? Just come and grab me.
We’re not getting married in the Manchester area. Can you still shoot our wedding?
Yes. I love getting out and about. I have shot in Chester, Liverpool, York, Derby, Northallerton, London, Brighton…… Due to proximity I shoot a lot in Leeds and the surrounding areas.
You seem to cover quite a large area – Manchester, Cheshire, and North Yorkshire – without charging extra for travel. What’s with that?
Well firstly, all these locations are easily accessible from Manchester. Secondly, I have family members conveniently placed round the country so the night after (and the night before, if necessary) your wedding I can visit, stay over and avoid any extra charges. If you don’t live in Manchester please don’t let that put you off getting in touch. We’ll see if I can shoot your wedding without additional expenses, and even if I do need to charge, it will be as little as possible.
Do you require a deposit and if so, how much?
I take a £100 non-refundable deposit via Bank Transfer. Once I receive this, your booking is secured and I will turn down any further enquiries for that date.
When do we need to pay the full amount?
I wonder if you could please pay the full amount before your wedding day. You’re welcome to pay in instalments if you’d prefer. As long as I’ve received the full amount by your wedding day, you’re welcome to make your own payment plan.
Do you accept Paypal?
Sorry, I do not accept Paypal.
Do you shoot destination weddings?
I’ve yet to shoot a wedding abroad, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t :). Please let me know your wedding plans and I will give a quote.
Our wedding doesn’t really ‘fit’ with the packages you offer, what can we do?
Please drop me an email, I’d love to hear your wedding plans and will happily provide a quote.
We’re interested in booking you for a non-wedding event……
Great! I can provide a documentary style photography for all events, not just weddings. Please let me know the details of your event or project and I will provide you with a quote.
When will we receive our photos?
I aim to return photos to clients within 4-6 weeks of their wedding. If there is a delay due to unforeseen circumstances I will contact you immediately. This is rare.
How will we receive our photos?
Via a client gallery.
Will you post our photos on your website and / or your Facebook page?
What equipment do you use?
I use professional level Nikon Cameras and lenses. I shoot in RAW and use Lightroom and Photoshop for editing.
Can you send all the RAW files of the photos you shot at our wedding?
Sorry, no, it is my policy to send only the finished, fully edited images to clients.
Do you backup all your photos?
Yes. It’s the first thing I do upon returning home, no matter how late it is. Along with my computer I back up to two external hard-drives, so in the unlikely event that one fails, your photos will be safe on the other.
Who shoots our wedding? You or someone else?
You get me, Robert Peet. I’ve read some strange stories of an assistant/apprentice/work experience person showing up at a wedding when the clients believed they had booked the proprietor / primary photographer. Don’t worry, this isn’t the case with me. I’m Robert Peet Photography’s only photographer and all the images on my website are taken by me.,
As of 2018, occasionally, I bring a trainee second shooter with me. The photos they take make up some of the photos in your final set, however they will be in addition to, rather than substitute any of the photos I would normally take. There is no extra charge for a trainee attending and I will contact you about this beforehand and if you would prefer that it just myself that attends your wedding, that is absolutely fine.
Can you provide two photographers?
Yes, for an additional £300 I can provide a second photographer. The second photographer will be a professional in their own right. The fee covers their work for the day. All images are edited by myself for style consistency.
Are all the images on your website taken by you?
Yes. There are no stock images and they are all from real weddings or events. No models.
What’s all this we’ve read about copyright?
Okay, let me say from the outset: your photos are yours to do with as you please – post on social media, copy and share with your friends and family, whatever you wish to do. ‘Copyright’ doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to copy them! The photos you receive won’t be watermarked so people won’t be distracted by my logo in every picture.
It’s only if someone uses a photo commercially (i.e. to sell, trade or otherwise make money), then issues of copyright come into play. Let’s imagine that a company requires a wedding-themed photo to advertise their product, and they offer to pay you for one of your wedding photos. Before accepting their offer, you would need to get in touch with me, as copyright ultimately belongs to the person who took the photo.
Do we need to feed you? (we’ve heard this is the done thing)
Thank you, but I always bring a packed lunch which I tuck into while you and your guests are enjoying your meal. Cheese and pickle sandwiches are my favourite. There’s no need to worry about me 🙂
Can we meet up before our wedding?
Yes, of course! If you live far from Manchester it might take a little arranging, but sure, I’m more than happy to meet up. You’re also welcome to contact me on the phone or email at any time. If I don’t answer my phone, please do leave a message. Chances are I’m on a job but I’ll get back to you asap.
How many bookings do you take a day?
Can I bring my children/mum/dog/cat to our pre-wedding shoot?
Yes, by all means. Inevitably more people/children/pets involved in a pre-wedding shoot will mean your photos will be more family/pet orientated than ‘couply’, but if you’re happy with that then great! Depending on the location pre-weddings shoots can sometimes require a little walking around…and little legs can get tired quickly. Just something to bear in mind. Get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
It’s raining on our wedding day, what do we do?
Don’t worry. Most venues have somewhere nice indoors to take photos and we can work creatively. I have cameras and lenses designed to work well in low light. I can continue documenting your day without intruding with a big camera flash.
If it’s very light rain, we can, if you like, take some photos outside using some umbrellas that I always bring with me for such an occasion.
How do we review you?
You can review me on Facebook and Google. You are of course welcome to provide feedback / testimonials via email.
We’ve ordered an album. How long does it take for us to receive it?
After you’ve approved your layout design, it’s normally takes the printing company 4 weeks to print and return the album to me. I usually get the album delivered to me so that I can check it before handing it to you in person.
The album printing company, like any business, have busy periods. They can sometimes take longer than 4 weeks to return an album. This is quite typical on the lead up to Christmas. If you would your album ready for Christmas please approve your layout design early!
Do you sell prints?
I currently do not sell prints, however your photos will be maximum resolution so you can print your photos at your leisure.
What resolution photos do we receive?
I give you 2 copies of each photo: full resolution and lower resolution. The lower resolution photos will be easier to browse through on your computer. You won’t notice that they are lower resolution, however I recommend you use the full resolution to print. I use the full resolution images in your album.
How soon do we receive our pre-wedding shoot photos?
Normally within a week of your PWS I will provide you with a download link for your photos.
Is the pre-wedding shoot a rehearsal?
The PWS is intended as a ‘warm-up’ which will allow you to become familiar with having your photo taken and – having met me and my equipment – help you to relax on the day. If by ‘rehearsal’ you mean practicing the exact shots and poses we will take on your wedding day, then no, the PWS is not a rehearsal, at least not in this sense.
How long do pre-wedding shoots last?
Normally about an hour.
What clothes do your wear to our wedding?
Smart trousers, shirt, shoes and waist jacket. If you have a dress code you would like me to adhere to please let me know.
Can we have our pre-wedding shoot photos taken at our venue?
Sure. Your wedding photos may be similar to your PWS photos, while at the same time, on your wedding day depending on the weather, time of day and time available, I can’t guarantee that I will be able to provide replicas of your pre-wedding shoot photos. If you’re happy with that then great, I’ll see you at your venue!
Are you insured?
Yes. If you or your venue would like to see my documents, just let me know.
Do you mind guests taking photos or filming during the ceremony?
Not at all. They might feature in your ceremony photos, but if you’re happy with that then so am I.
We’ve asked ‘Uncle Bob’ who likes photography to take some photos as well. Is that okay?
Yes, of course. All I would ask is that Uncle Bob does not take over, or jump in front me just as I’m about to get a key shot. If, say, during the ceremony Uncle Bob has already occupied the best position for photos, I regret I would have to politely ask him to move to another position. I’m obliged to take the best photos I can for you and that means being in the right place!
During formal group photos if there are several people stood next to me taking photos at once, I will sometimes ask that I take a photo a first, and then anyone who wants to take a photo can do so afterwards. This is just to prevent people looking in different directions on your photos.
We would like a purely documentary / photo-journalistic approach with no couple / formal photos.
Sure thing. Documentary is my speciality. Just let me know. If there is someone in particular you would like a photo of (Aunty May from the US who you never get to see, for example), formal photos are a good way to guarantee one. Just something to bear in mind when you are considering what photos you might like.
What kind of couples do you like to work with?
Anyone and everyone! If you’ve looked at my photos and like my style that’s good enough for me! Some couples have commented that they booked me because of my relaxed approach, no ‘hard sales pitch’, nor a ‘my way or the high way’ attitude to their wedding plans. While I may have one or two suggestions, I will never dictate your day.
